COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to prepare teacher trainees and practicing teachers for effective classroom practice and successful performance in the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). It focuses on essential pedagogical knowledge, skills, and competencies required for teaching in primary school settings, with particular attention to learner diversity, inclusion, planning, instruction, classroom management, motivation, questioning, feedback, and assessment.

The course explores key concepts such as differentiated instruction, scaffolding, inclusive education, lesson planning, instructional resources and ICT integration, classroom management strategies, effective questioning techniques, learner motivation, and educational assessment. Learners are guided to understand how these concepts apply to real classroom situations in Ghanaian basic schools.

Through practical examples, classroom scenarios, and reflective activities, participants will develop the ability to plan engaging lessons, manage inclusive classrooms, support diverse learning needs, motivate learners, assess learning effectively, and apply educational theories such as Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development in daily teaching practice.

By the end of the course, learners will be well-equipped with both theoretical understanding and practical skills necessary to meet professional teaching standards, improve learner outcomes, and confidently approach the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination.
