Description:
This course provides a comprehensive exploration of Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Ghana, equipping prospective teachers with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to excel in the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). Participants will gain a deep understanding of both international ECE programmes, such as Reggio Emilia and MASHAV, and local Ghanaian models, including the Sabre Education and Pencil of Promise approaches.
The course examines the national policies, regulatory frameworks, and ethical considerations that shape effective ECE practice, including the National Teachers’ Standards, Ghana ECE policy, inclusive education, safe school practices, and school feeding initiatives.
Learners will develop mastery in current ECE pedagogies, integrated curriculum approaches, creative teaching strategies, classroom management, and differentiation techniques. The course also provides practical guidance on assessing young learners using authentic, performance-based, and contemporary assessment tools.
Through a combination of theory, practical applications, and scenario-based learning, participants will be prepared to implement high-quality, ethical, and child-centered ECE practices in Ghanaian classrooms while meeting the standards required for licensure.
