This comprehensive course is designed to prepare prospective teachers for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examinations (GTLE) by providing an in-depth understanding of English grammar, morphology, semantics, and literature. The course covers essential grammatical concepts including parts of speech, sentence structure, tenses, voice, conditional sentences, reported speech, and idiomatic expressions, as well as the identification and correction of common language errors.
In addition, the course explores morphology and semantics, focusing on word formation, synonyms, antonyms, and meaning in context. Learners will develop the ability to analyze phrases, clauses, and sentence structures accurately, enhancing both written and spoken English proficiency.
The literature component introduces learners to the forms and genres of literature, including prose, poetry, and drama, and emphasizes literary appreciation, analysis of unseen texts, and identification of literary devices. By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to use English accurately, identify and correct errors, interpret literary texts, and apply language concepts confidently, making them well-prepared for success in the GTLE.
