Professional Citizenship, National Development & Social Studies for Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE)
This course is designed to equip prospective teachers with a solid understanding of key social, civic, economic, and historical concepts assessed in the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). It provides comprehensive coverage of personal development, citizenship, human rights, democratic governance, socialization, population studies, socio-economic development, tourism, entrepreneurship, science and technology, and Ghana’s political history.
Learners will explore essential topics such as self-identity and sense of purpose, rights and responsibilities of Ghanaian citizens, peace and security, electoral processes, population growth, family systems, human resource development, tourism and leisure, entrepreneurship, financial management, science and innovation, and the journey of Ghana toward independence and democratic governance.
The course emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application through scenario-based learning, examination-focused discussions, and GTLE-style practice questions. Special attention is given to constitutional provisions, national development strategies, and historical milestones commonly tested in the licensure examinations.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to confidently analyze civic issues, explain national development concepts, apply entrepreneurial skills, and demonstrate mastery of Ghana’s socio-political history—preparing them effectively to succeed in the GTLE and to function as responsible professional educators.
