COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course examines key social, cultural, political, economic, and environmental issues that shape national identity, citizenship, and development in Ghana. It explores Ghanaian culture and national identity, emphasizing shared values, symbols, cultural diversity, and their role in national cohesion and development. Learners will analyze marriage, family life, and responsible parenting as foundations for stable societies and effective nation building.

The course also addresses environmental issues and sustainable development, focusing on human–environment relationships, environmental degradation, and adaptation strategies. It examines education as an agent of societal change, highlighting its transformative role in national development. Learners will further explore peace building, conflict resolution, democracy, constitutional governance, rights and responsibilities, and community development, assessing their impact on social stability and nation building in Ghana.

Finally, the course focuses on youth development, work, entrepreneurship, science, technology, resource utilization, and sustainability, equipping learners with practical knowledge to contribute meaningfully to economic growth and sustainable development. Through analysis, application, and evaluation, learners will develop civic responsibility, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to national development.
